Violation of Rule 8.4
The AFL (Association of Federal Lawyers) has accused Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, of professional misconduct. According to Rule 8.4 of the AFL, engaging in dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation constitutes professional misconduct. It is worth noting that the rule also states that various illegal activities, such as fraud and willful failure to file income tax returns, reflect negatively on a lawyer’s fitness to practice law.
Evidence of Professional Misconduct
AFL Senior Counselor and Director of Oversight and Investigations, Reed D. Rubinstein, claims that there is substantial evidence suggesting that Hunter Biden has engaged in professional misconduct, as outlined in Rule 8.4. Rubinstein emphasizes the importance of applying the Rules of Professional Conduct consistently and fairly, regardless of a lawyer’s political affiliation or family connections. He asserts that an investigation into Mr. Biden’s conduct is warranted.
Legal Troubles
Hunter Biden has been facing legal troubles, including tax crimes and federal firearms charges. He recently pleaded not guilty to tax crimes related to a “four-year scheme” of evading federal income taxes. His trial is scheduled to begin on June 20. Additionally, he faces federal firearms charges in Delaware for lying on a gun purchase form. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison.
House Investigation
In addition to his legal battles, Hunter Biden is also under investigation by the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees regarding his foreign business dealings and alleged influence peddling during his father’s vice presidency.
Bar Complaint
The AFL has filed a bar complaint against Hunter Biden’s attorney, Kevin Morris, in the state of California. The complaint alleges a violation of California’s Rules of Professional Conduct.
