Star Defender Exits Crimson Tide After Impressive Season
Alabama linebacker Will Turner has made a definitive statement regarding his future with the team. In an interview with ESPN, Turner declared, “I’m gone. Ain’t no ifs, ands or buts about it.”
Turner’s decision comes after a standout performance in the recent game against Michigan, where he recorded the only sack for the Crimson Tide against Wolverines’ quarterback J.J. McCarthy. Throughout the season, the junior defender contributed 53 tackles and an impressive 10 sacks in 14 games.
Disappointment Over Missed National Championship Opportunity
Expressing his disappointment, Turner remarked, “It sucks knowing that I won’t win what I came here for, you know? I came here to be a national champion and I won’t ever be a national champion.”
Despite Alabama’s success in winning the SEC Championship, they fell short of their ultimate goal, which led to Turner’s decision to move on from the team. However, his departure opens up opportunities for other linebackers and edge rushers in the upcoming draft.
Rooks Eyeing Turner as Potential First-Round Pick
Turner is highly anticipated to be a first-round selection in the upcoming NFL draft. With his remarkable talent and skill set, he is likely to draw the attention of numerous teams in need of linebackers and prolific edge rushers.
Notably, Turner was honored as the 2023 SEC Defensive Player of the Year and received All-American recognition for his outstanding performance this season.
