The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue in Philadelphia County has issued a notice to Ashley Biden, daughter of President Joe Biden, stating that she has an unpaid tax lien in favor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The period covered by the lien is from January 1, 2015, to January 1, 2021.
Joe Biden’s Stance on Wealthy Individuals
Joe Biden has been vocal about wealthy and connected individuals not paying their fair share of taxes. However, this tax lien on his daughter’s property raises questions about the consistency of his own family’s tax compliance.
“The scale is not anything like Hunter, but… Joe is constantly talking about how wealthy and connected people do not pay their fair share and can’t afford to pay more, and it just so happens that both of his living children did not pay their taxes,” said Garrett Ziegler, founder of nonprofit Marco Polo and former President Trump aide.
The Bidens’ Carelessness
Ziegler also criticized the Bidens for their carelessness, stating that they should have been more prudent, especially as the first family, to avoid any tax liens, particularly in an election year.
Discovery of Ashley Biden’s Lien
Ziegler’s team discovered Ashley’s tax lien while conducting a routine search in the Philadelphia County courthouse system. Ziegler is known for founding the website BidenLaptopMedia.com, which contains thousands of photos from Hunter Biden’s laptop.
Ashley Biden’s Career in Social Work
Ashley Biden, born on June 8, 1981, has primarily focused on social work, activism, and philanthropy throughout her career. She currently works for the Delaware Center for Justice, focusing on criminal justice reform.
From 2007 to 2012, Ashley worked as a social worker in the Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families. She obtained her master’s degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice in 2010.
In 2017, Ashley launched a charitable fashion brand called Livelihood while working at the Delaware Center for Justice. In 2019, she left her job to support her father’s presidential campaign.
Recently, Ashley has reportedly been applying for a doctorate in clinical social work at the University of Pennsylvania, with a focus on studying the neurobiology of trauma and developing her own curriculum.
Past Controversy with Ashley Biden
Last summer, two individuals pleaded guilty in federal court in New York City for stealing Ashley’s diary and other possessions, which were then sold to the conservative watchdog group Project Veritas during the final weeks of the 2020 presidential election.
