Linda Blair, the actress who played Regan MacNeil in the iconic horror film “The Exorcist,” recently shared her surprise at the movie’s enormous success. Warner Bros. even planned to send Blair on an international press tour to show the public that she was just a young girl, not the possessed character they saw on screen.

Blair recounted some of the challenges she faced during the filming of “The Exorcist.” The freezing cold temperatures on set, with temperatures as low as 17 below zero, left a lasting impression on her. Another hurdle for Blair was the “crass language” her character had to use in the film. Director Billy Friedkin rewrote the script and would inform Blair secretly the night before filming. Despite her initial reservations, Blair delivered the dialogue, which went against her upbringing.

Blair’s commitment to the Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation, an animal and human welfare organization, prevented her from taking on a larger role in the film, but she was grateful for the opportunity to surprise the cast with her cameo.
