Reflections and Celebrations
As we reach the end of the year, it’s time to reflect on the past twelve months and celebrate the festive season. We’ve made it through another year, and it’s time to embrace the joy and merriment that comes with this time of year.
Despite the challenges we faced, we’re here once again, bringing you the final issue of the year. We hope you’re enjoying the last moments of celebration before settling in for some well-deserved relaxation.
Our team, too, will be joining in on the festivities. By the time you read this, we’ll be emerging from our ES Magazine all-day bash, ready to embrace the holiday spirit. Our celebrations follow the same tried and true format as last year, because some traditions are worth holding onto. A five-hour lunch at The French House, filled with laughter and perhaps a bit of shouting, will be followed by a journey through the vibrant streets of after-dark Soho, stopping by hidden gems like Trisha’s and Gerry’s. What could possibly go wrong?
A Message of Gratitude and Support
Now, let’s turn our attention to the matter at hand. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our covergirl, Rita Ora. Not only is she a force to be reckoned with in showbiz, but she is also undeniably one of the sweetest people we’ve had the pleasure of working with. Rita has been a strong supporter of our Winter Survival charity campaign, and we invite you to read about her experience with the Chances for Children initiative on page 24. It’s truly an amazing cause, and if you are able, we encourage you to donate here.
Highlights of This Issue
In this issue, Richard Godwin provides us with a detailed review of the past year, capturing the highs and lows that defined 2023. Emily Phillips shares why staying in our great city is the best plan for Christmas, offering a fresh perspective on how to make the most of this special time of year. We also take a moment to remember the Scala cinema, a place that brought joy and excitement to many and now lives on in our memories. And as always, our beloved Daisy May Cooper takes on the role of exploring My London, leaving us in stitches with her hilarious anecdotes.
Looking Ahead
We may be bidding farewell for now, but fear not! We’ll be back on January 19th with a special cover to kick-start the new year. In the meantime, you can find us over at standard.co.uk. We’ll continue to bring you the latest news and stories, ensuring you stay informed and entertained.
Before we go, we want to express our gratitude to our dear readers. Your kind words and support mean the world to us. So, as we wrap up this final issue of the year, we leave you with these words, paraphrasing Macaulay Culkin: Merry Christmas, you wonderful readers!
