Graham’s Discontent
Graham, a former running back for the Gators, took to social media to voice his frustration with his former team. He described his experience as “no calls, no communication, and the driest experience imaginable.”
A Stellar Career
Graham had an impressive career as a running back for the Gators from 1998-2002. He amassed over 3,000 rushing yards and received all-SEC honors. In his first year at Florida, he was included on the SEC All-Freshman team.
An Undrafted Journey
Despite going undrafted in 2003, Graham eventually signed with the Tampa Bay Buccanears. He played for eight years and accumulated 2,047 rushing yards.
The Cause of Frustration
Graham’s frustration with the Gators likely stems from the departure of Jay Bateman, a key assistant coach. Bateman, who previously served as the Gators inside linebackers coach, was recently named the defensive coordinator at an undisclosed institution.
A Missed Opportunity
Graham’s disappointment is heightened by the fact that Bateman would have been his coach for the 2024 season. It appears that Bateman was involved in recruiting Graham to Florida, making his departure even more disheartening for the former player.
A Lack of Transparency
Graham feels that his family was left in the dark regarding Bateman’s departure. Additionally, he expressed a desire for better communication on various other matters.
