Despite Ups and Downs, DeVito Proves Himself as a Valuable Player
In his first year as a starting quarterback for the New York Giants, DeVito has experienced both triumph and disappointment. Living in his childhood home just minutes away from MetLife Stadium, DeVito has embraced his Italian heritage while leading the team. However, his performance has been inconsistent, resulting in a recent benching in favor of Taylor.
DeVito’s season started on a high note, as he led the Giants to three consecutive wins after replacing Jones, who suffered an ACL tear. He demonstrated his skills by completing 63.4% of his passes for 1,087 yards, nine touchdowns, and three interceptions. Impressive numbers for an undrafted free agent.
Reflecting on his rookie campaign, DeVito expressed his belief in his abilities, stating, “I belong.” Despite facing both love and hate from fans, he remains focused on staying grounded and being the best teammate he can be.
As the season comes to a close, DeVito acknowledges that he still has room to grow and learn from his experiences. He plans to watch film, lean on his teammates, and continue to give his all on the field.
The Giants’ remaining games against the Los Angeles Rams and an undisclosed opponent will determine the final outcome of their season.
