Fieri’s Advice to His Sons
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, celebrity chef Guy Fieri revealed his unconventional approach to parenting. Fieri shared that he has passed down his father’s advice to his own sons. His dad’s mantra was, “When I die, you can expect that I’m going to die broke, and you’re going to be paying for the funeral.” Fieri added that he has told his boys, “none of this that we’ve been building are you going to get unless you come and take it from me.”
Instilling a Strong Work Ethic
Fieri has instilled a strong work ethic in his children, emphasizing the importance of education. He wants his sons to have multiple degrees by the time they finish school.
The Family Dynamic
Fieri and his wife Lori have also taken care of their nephew Jules since the death of Guy’s sister in 2011. Jules is pursuing a career in the music industry and is currently enrolled in a law program in Southern California.
Ryder’s Complaint
Ryder, Fieri’s youngest son who is a senior in high school, expressed frustration with his father’s expectations. Fieri shared his son’s complaint, “‘Dad, this is so unfair. I haven’t even gone to college yet, and you’re already pushing that I’ve got to get an MBA? Can I just get through college?'” Fieri responded by sharing a quote from Shaquille O’Neal, “If you want any of this cheese, you’ve got to give me two degrees.” Fieri clarified that his definition of “two degrees” means postgraduate degrees.
Eldest Son Following in His Footsteps
Fieri’s eldest son, Hunter, is already following in his father’s footsteps. He has been working alongside his dad for years and has achieved notable success. Hunter has his own contract with Food Network, is the top salesman for the family wine brand, and is working towards his master’s degree.
A Lesson in Humility
For Ryder’s 16th birthday, Fieri decided to teach him a lesson in humility. Instead of gifting him a fancy sports car, Fieri passed down the family minivan. Fieri explained that all his children had to drive a family car until they earned their own money. Ryder initially resisted, but eventually grew to love the minivan and embraced the experience.

The event, expected to attract nearly 15,000 people, will offer custom-curated Pepsi cocktails and culinary pairings. Fieri emphasized that the tailgate is for all football fans, whether they are attending the game or not.
Fieri’s Love for Football
As a football fan himself, Fieri revealed that he is particularly fond of barbecue and brisket when he watches his favorite team, the Raiders. He believes that an awesome tailgate is the perfect way to kick off a great Super Bowl game.
