Lamar Jackson Responds to Mike Florio’s Dismissive Remarks
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson did not mince words when addressing comments made by sports commentator Mike Florio. In the tunnel on his way to the locker room, Jackson expressed his displeasure with Florio’s disrespectful remarks toward the Ravens. Jackson emphasized that as professional football players, they deserve respect and acknowledgement for their skills and hard work.
Jackson stated, “We’re in the NFL. We play ball. Not to take away from that team, but you can’t just discredit us. We’re grown men. We have to feed our families. (Mike Florio) can have his opinion, but don’t just talk like that. That’s disrespectful.”
The Ravens quarterback further explained, “Our record isn’t a fluke. We play ball, and we showed that. He just needs to keep doing his job, but just don’t come off like that towards us. That’s disrespectful, like I said, because he isn’t putting the pads on.”
Florio Apologizes for His Remarks
Realizing the impact of his words, Mike Florio publicly apologized for his remarks about the Ravens. In a written statement, Florio expressed his regret for how he phrased his opinion and acknowledged that the Ravens deserve complete and total respect for their accomplishments.
Florio wrote, “Lamar is right. I apologize for how I phrased my opinion. I believed the 49ers were dramatically better than every other team in the NFL: Cowboys, Eagles, Chiefs, Dolphins, everyone. The Ravens proved otherwise. They deserve complete and total respect for what they accomplished.”
The Ravens Show Their Strength on the Field
While the controversy surrounding Florio’s comments made headlines, the Ravens let their performance on the field do the talking. Lamar Jackson led the team with 252 passing yards and two touchdown passes, both of which came in the third quarter. Additionally, Jackson showcased his running abilities, gaining 45 yards on the ground.
After the game, Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen expressed the team’s determination to prove the doubters wrong. Queen stated, “Everybody was writing us off before we even had a chance to play. We knew what we were capable of, and everybody counted us out. [They] didn’t expect us to even hold up. Everybody was saying we were going to get blown out by double digits or whatever. So we just had to come out and play our style of ball. We all understood the assignment.”
