Collaboration for Economic Growth and Security
Tokyo is buzzing with the Japan-Ukraine Conference for Promotion of Economic Growth and Reconstruction, gathering senior officials and executives from both nations. While the U.S. and Western countries focus on military aid, Japan and Ukraine aim to delve into reconstruction efforts.
Key Attendees and Agenda
The conference is jointly organized by Japanese and Ukrainian governments, Keidanren, and JETRO. Partnership Deals and Plans
Numerous cooperation deals have been forged between Japanese and Ukrainian entities, spanning various sectors like technology, farming, infrastructure, and anti-corruption measures. Notable collaborations include small wind power generation facilities development, gas compressor station modernization, and digital infrastructure rebuilding.
Joint Commitment
In a joint communique, Japan and Ukraine reaffirmed their support for sanctions against Russia and emphasized the importance of preventing circumvention of these measures. The agreement also includes plans for a tax convention, investment treaty review, and the easing of visa requirements for Ukrainian citizens.
