Suspect Calls from Florida, Leaves Threatening Message
On July 31, 2023, a man named Sidhwaney called the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. from Florida and left a voicemail filled with expletives. The voicemail, according to court records, contained repeated threats to kill a specific individual referred to as “Victim 1” in the grand jury indictment. The Department of Justice (DOJ) has not provided further information about the victim.
Potential Penalty of Five Years
Sidhwaney, the suspect, could face a maximum penalty of five years in prison. The DOJ has not yet scheduled a sentencing date for him. The seriousness of the threat prompted an investigation by the Supreme Court of the United States Protective Intelligence Unit and the U.S. Capitol Police Threat Assessment Section.
