Inspiring Kids to Chase Their Dreams On and Off the Field
NFL player Asamoah is using his platform to make a difference in his communities. As part of the NFL’s My Cause My Cleats campaign, Asamoah has chosen to inspire kids to chase their dreams both academically and in sports. He also shows support for Ghanaian youth, as he lived in Ghana when he was 10 years old.
Be Authentic: A Foundation for Dreams
Asamoah’s foundation, Be Authentic, aims to give kids the opportunity to pursue their dreams in academics and sports. Growing up, Asamoah learned the importance of balancing his passion for sports with his commitment to school. He believes that in order to excel on the field, one must also excel in the classroom. Through his foundation, he wants to provide kids with a “real opportunity” to thrive in Minnesota, where he grew up, and in Ghana, where he has a special connection.
A Connection to Ghana
During the NFL season, Asamoah wore a headband with Ghana’s colors and cleats that honored the Ghana Black Stars. His My Cause My Cleats footwear proudly displays the Be Authentic name alongside the colors of Ghana’s flag. Asamoah’s connection to Ghana runs deep, as he lived there for a year with his uncle when he was 10. This experience allowed him to see life through a different lens and appreciate his own circumstances.
A Lesson in Gratitude and Pursuing Dreams
Returning to the United States after his time in Ghana, Asamoah vowed to never take anything for granted. He was determined to pursue his dream of becoming a professional football player. He believes that his learning experiences have helped him stay level-headed, even during tough times like the tumultuous season Minnesota has experienced.

Asamoah emphasizes the importance of finding passion outside of football. He believes that football players are more than just athletes and should strive to expand themselves beyond the sport.
