Rehabbing Quarterbacks Form Unique Connection
Minnesota Vikings quarterback, Kirk Cousins, and Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, have formed an unexpected bond during their respective Achilles tendon rehabilitation journeys. The two quarterbacks have been rehabbing together in recent months and have now taken their connection to the next level.
‘Achilles Anonymous’ Support Group Proposed
In a recent text exchange, Cousins jokingly suggested to Rodgers that they should start a support group for players who have suffered Achilles injuries. The proposed group, humorously named ‘Achilles Anonymous,’ aims to provide a platform for players to share stories, experiences, and strategies related to their injury.
“We need to start an Achilles Anonymous group. Maybe at Super Bowl week, we could have a little summit,” Cousins revealed during a podcast with ESPN reporter Adam Schefter. “We can all meet in Vegas and invite all the who’s who of torn Achilles and see if we can all get in a room and swap stories and experiences and strategies.”
An Unlikely Partnership
The irony of Cousins and Rodgers potentially joining forces is not lost on football fans. As NFC North rivals for five seasons, the idea of them collaborating seems unlikely. However, the shared experience of recovering from an Achilles injury has brought them together.
Future Uncertainty for Cousins
While Rodgers is set to return to the field with the Green Bay Packers in 2024, Cousins’ future remains uncertain. His contract with the Vikings is set to expire after this season, leaving his next move up in the air.
Cousins’ Stellar Season Cut Short
Prior to his injury, Cousins was having a standout season, putting up impressive numbers. In the eight games he played, Cousins completed 69.5% of his passes for 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and only five interceptions. If he had remained healthy, Cousins would have been a strong contender for the NFL passing yards and touchdowns lead, potentially putting him in the MVP conversation.
Vikings Maintain Playoff Hopes
Despite the quarterback change, with Nick Mullens now under center instead of Josh Dobbs, the Vikings have managed to hold onto the sixth seed in the NFC with a 7-7 record. Their playoff hopes are still alive as they continue to fight for a spot in the postseason.
