Recalled Products
The expanded recall includes popular items such as Quaker Chewy Granola Bars and Cereals, Cap’n Crunch Bars and select cereals, Gamesa Marias Cereal, Gatorade Peanut Butter Chocolate Protein Bars, Munchies Munch Mix, and snack boxes containing these products.
No Confirmed Illnesses
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has received 24 reports of adverse events related to the initially recalled products, but no illnesses have been confirmed to be linked to the foods so far, according to an agency spokesperson. Adverse events can range from medical problems to complaints about taste, color, packaging, or other non-medical issues. The FDA is actively investigating these reports.
Potential Dangers of Salmonella
Salmonella infections can cause a range of symptoms including fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. In rare cases, these bacterial infections can be fatal. Consumers are advised to check their pantries for any of the recalled products and dispose of them properly.
