Star Quarterback to Return Without Restrictions
Star quarterback Aaron Rodgers is gearing up to participate in the New York Jets’ offseason training activities (OTAs) later this month, with coach Robert Saleh confirming there will be “no restrictions.”
Rodgers, who suffered a left Achilles tendon rupture just four snaps into his Jets debut last season, has made a remarkable recovery and is now poised to hit the field for the 2024 NFL season fully fit.
Rodgers’ Swift Recovery
The four-time MVP underwent surgery following his injury, initially being expected to miss the entire season. However, Rodgers defied the odds by returning to practice just 11 weeks after the setback.
Despite the Jets missing the playoffs last season, Rodgers’ rehabilitation progress has been impressive. He is now on track to lead the team with a full offseason of training under his belt.
Full Participation in Offseason Drills
Coach Saleh announced that Rodgers, now 40, will be fully engaged in phase three of the OTAs, involving 10 days of 11-on-11 drills without contact over a four-week period.
Saleh emphasized that Rodgers’ return will be carefully managed, with the early phases focusing on conditioning, meetings, individual drills, and walk-through pace exercises.
“The guy can still sling it,” Saleh commented on Rodgers’ progress. “No issues on the trajectory on which he’s going.”
Jets’ Offense Looks to Rebound
With Rodgers back in the mix, the Jets are hopeful for a stronger offensive performance after struggling in his absence last season. Third-year quarterback Zach Wilson faced challenges, leading to a mid-game benching for Tim Boyle before ultimately reclaiming his starting position.
Despite a tough season, the Jets finished with a 7-10 record and are eager to make a stronger showing with Rodgers leading the charge in the upcoming season.
